Abstract

Nor-ad-Din Mahmod Zengi, who obtained the emirate of Aleppo in 1146 in the Zangi Atabeg and attained a good reputation while struggling against the Crusaders and dealt a big blow to the cru-saders, annihilated the leaders of crusaders such as the princeps of Antioch-Raymond, and the ruler of Maraş-Renaud, and he cap-tured predecessor Earl of Urfa Joscelin II, the princeps of Antioch Renaud de Chatillon and Joscelin III-the son of Joscelin II-and so he caused irrecoverable blanks in the crusaders' hierarchy. These activities of Nor- ad-Din Mahmod and the inheritance demands of Constance, who became widow after the death of her husband Ray-mond, the problem of marrying again, and her marriage to Renaud de Chattillon weakened the crusaders in the North. The marriag of Agnes, who became a widow after the killing of her husband, and the marriage of her mother who became a widow after the captiv-ity of Joscelin II in Jerusalem, and the schism around their love affected the existence of the crusaders in the East Mediterranean along Jerusalem, paved the way for the conquest of Jerusalem by Saladin and formed a basis for the expulsion of the crusaders. This article, which is written by source inspection method, investigates the activities of Nor-ad-Din Zengi and the problems the widows of Crusaders' wives caused with regards of the crusaders.
