Abstract
The genocides in the Eastern Borderlands have been a phenomenon regularly repeated for several centuries. They were carried out with terrifying cruelty and escalation of violence. Their common feature was disinterested destruction and chaos, hostility to the principal characteristics of Latin civilization. Chaos and violence have become part of folk culture in Ukraine and have been shared from generation to generation. Crimes and atrocities were glorified with the help of belles-lettres. Unfortunately, the Eastern (Orthodox and Uniate) Church, which became a part of the civilization of violence, did not perform its humanitarian mission. The symbol of this degeneration of religion is the blasphemous ordinances directed towards the blessing of death tools. Without defeating the civilization barrier and adopting common ethical principles based on Christianity and order, all Polish-Ukrainian dialogue loses its meaning.
