Social significance of public sphere in Lviv (in light of Highcastle by Stanisław Lem)

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to show the social significance of Lviv public spaces. It was based on the autobiographical story of Stanislaw Lem the High Castle. The literary analysis made it possible to show the public space of Lviv from the writer's perspective in the first part of the article. Some places, such as streets, squares, buildings, facilities and ruins, gardens and parks were included. These elements left a special mark on the life of the writer and Lviv people. In turn, the sociological analysis of urban spaces showed their social significance. Specific places of public space included in the analysis differ in terms of meaning, but also have common features.
