Abstract
This article discusses the age-related characteristics of the formation of motor skills in children 11-15 years old and their dependence on the teaching methodology. In the study of this issue, methods such as pedagogical observations were used, experience with young athletes was generalized, photographic registration of gymnastic exercises and a pedagogical experiment using pneumography and statistical processing of research materials were carried out. The article indicates that the motor skills of gymnastics in children as they become relatively quickly consolidate and are highly resistant to interruptions in learning and the effect of other confounding factors. Sustainability of skills in boys is slightly higher than in girls. With age, boys quickly master the links of relatively complex motor skills, but the accuracy of their movements after 13 years often decreases. In girls, motor abilities noticeably develop up to 12 years, after 12 years, often girls hardly master not only the details, but also the technical basis of motor skills.
