Abstract
The problem of evaluation of the effectiveness of public investments in R&D is vital for all countries that focus on the development of national science . The government is interested in obtaining scientific results that would stimulate economic growth and social well-being in the country. The existence of overlapping programs of direct financial support for research and development with high cost and low productivity requires managerial solutions for their optimization, but interdepartmental coordination of such programs is organizationally difficult and in its turn requires considerable resources. ‘ Public Sector R&D Enterprise: A New Approach to Portfolio Valuation' by P. Linquiti will be interesting for a wide range of practitioners from researchers of private enterprises to managers dealing with allocation of budgetary funds at the national level.
