Abstract

Proceedings of the round-table include four reports and debate on all of them.Mrs.Parfenova presented the key findings of the RIEPL Working Group from the measurement and analysis of research papers published by Russian scientists in international journals indexed by Web of Science database.Among other things,the methodology for measuring world-wide publication productivity of research organizations in the Russian national bibliometric system was presented.This methodology allows to avoid double-counting in the case when one publication is assigned by the authors to several affiliate institutions.In her report, Mrs Grishakina provided a systematized list of measures intended to encourage the publication activity of Russian researchers; reviewed the interim results of including Russian scientific journals in the Web of Science regional database and the perspectives of creating an unified information system for Russian scientific publications.The report of Mr Sukharev included an analyses of the problems faced by Russian scientists when publishing their research results in international journals.In his report,Mr.Bogorov presented recent trends in publication activity of Russian scientists and research teams of the leading Russian universities as well as analytical tools provided by Web of Science.Participants of the roundtable meeting discussed the problems arising from application of scientometrical indicators to the evaluation of research performance of individual scientist and research organizations.
