INVISIBLE TURKISMS IN THE OLZHAS SULEIMENOV’S BOOK “AZ I YA”: A PHILOLOGICAL ESSAY

The article is devoted to the analysis of the so-called “invisible Turkisms”, which are the object of discussion in the book “AZ i YA” by O. Suleimenov. The underlying methodological principle consists in the understanding of a specific bilingual situation based on cultural, historic and linguistic contacts between Ancient Russia (Rus) and the Steppe, which is revealed in the idiosyncratic style of the literary masterpiece - the text of “The Lay of Igor’s Warfare”. Sharing the views of O. Suleimenov - a port, a linguist, a turcologist and a bilingual personality, the article’s author tries to present the linguistic argumentation and explanation of the essence of “invisible” Turkisms in the ancient Russian poem, not using exclusively methods of linguistic reconstruction and etymological and paleographical analyses, but proceeding from the text analysis in the variety and multiplicity of its forms as well as taking into consideration syntagmatic, paradigmatic and functional text aspects. Using semiological strategies to analyze words and lexemes up to and including sound-and-letter contensive categories of the Cyrillic alphabet, the researcher manages to characterize main stages of semiosis as a coherent transition from the iconic signification to the symbolic one and simultaneously he tries to describe the emerging of symbolism and polysemy of words and lexemes in course of their textual using and semantic transformations. The text of “The Lay of Igor’s Warfare” which was rewritten and translated a great many times is te document of its epoch, and as an object of cultural, historical and philological heritage it’s going to retain the everlasting significance in becoming and developing of interdisciplinary research in the domain of humanities.
