Abstract
Abdelmalek Mortadh is one of the novelists who tried a new way in narrative writing, by using new creative techniques through experimentation, aiming at exceeding to the classical ones which dominated for a long period of time, and his novel entitled "Wadi Edhalam""Valley of Darkness" reflects on the use of those new techniques and also his style of writing. In this novel Mortadh experimented how to combine between realistic and fantastic worlds in order to get creative writing fiction. This study aims to reveal the miraculous in this novel, from the perspective of Todorov, the latter, who is the pioneer in the field according to the scholars. So, to what extent could Mortadh go beyond traditional narrative writing and establish a new vision for the world and the self, by combining reality and imagination? What are the different tools used by Mortadh in his narrative discourse to reveal the unspoken issues in the Algerian culture? We will try to answer these questions through the following study?
