Abstract

A Simulation studies of a one TR window air conditioner were carried out with and without Suction line –Liquid line Heat exchanger. Performance parameters like refrigerant mass flow rate, refrigeration capacity, compressor power, C.O.P, condenser inlet temperature, condenser outlet temperature, capillary tube inlet temperature and compressor shell inlet temperature were analyzed at varying conditions, evaporator temperature varied from 6oC -120C and condenser temperature varied from 40oC -550C and results were analyzed. The refrigerant chosen are R22 and R290. Performance parameters of R22 and R290 are compared using CYCLE _ D software. Simulation results show that mass flow rate increases in the range of (5.35 -7.60) % with the inclusion of heat exchanger, refrigeration capacity has a marginal variation with and without addition of heat exchanger, condenser inlet temperature increases in the range of (4.0 -4.92) %, condenser outlet temperature increases in the range of (17.7 -26.18) %, capillary tube inlet temperature increases in the range of ( 2.99 -10.41 ) %, compressor shell inlet temperature increases in the range of ( 3.68 -27.89 ) % , compressor power decreases in the range of (7.2 --8.1 ) % , Co-efficient Of Performance increases in the range of (7.92 -8.78) % and power consumed by compressor is reduced by 1.1 %. Thus the adoption of internal heat exchanger has a positive impact on the performance of window air conditioner.
