Abstract
One cannot overemphasize the importance of transportation than call it the lifeline of the Nation. The work aims to stabilize the alluvial soil by using nanotechnology-based products (Terrasil and Zycobond) which will give better results for soil compaction. The construction of pavement is being carried out on a very fast pace. Due to an increase in the land use pattern, pavements are laid on the unfavourable ground and soil is being stabilized by using locally available materials. Some places where the local materials are not available, increases the cost of construction and also increases the depletion of natural resources. The study is done in order to protect the resources and stabilize the soil by using Nano-particles (Terrasil and Zycobond). An experimental investigation is performed to decide the effect of nano-particles on compaction, CBR both soaked (4days) and un-soaked condition. Also, the permeability test was performed to find out the underlying mechanism. Different dosage was applied to soil as 0.6kg/m3, 0.9kg/m3and 1.3kg/m3, which shows that the addition of Nano-particles (Terrasil and Zycobond) into the alluvial soil reduces compressibility, permeability and also increase CBR value in both conditions.
