Abstract
Energy produced by fossil fuels is responsible for the release of carbon into the atmosphere, and as a result acid rain and global warming. We therefore need to reduce the use of fossil fuels and adopt different methods for energy production. Marine energy has very large potential but there are many problems related to be overcome like reduction in cost, environmental impact, poor governance and many more. This paper briefly reviews the production of marine energy from offshore, tidal energy, waves, thermal energy, salination, and biomass resources. Future areas of researchand development have also been discussed; these areas include marine energy storage, use of advance robots and other details
