The article analyzes the scientific literature on the specific professional activity of a psychologist in the field of sports. On the basis of the conducted theoretical analysis the aspects of professional activity of the psychologist have been considered. The basic approaches in the work of a psychologist in the field of sports, which contribute to the effective exercise of their professional activity, have been highlighted. The basic directions of the sports psychologist's work have been substantiated.
