Tahıl Ürünlerinin Zekâtının Değeri Üzerinden Verilebilirliği

The epistle namely Jawāzu ikhrāji zakat al-habbi bi al-qiymah written by Mohammad Ᾱbid in response to a letter sent by Sayyid Yousuf al-Battāh in 1236/1820. Al- Battāh, lived in Makkah, addressed a question to Ᾱbid in his letter. That question also became the name of this booklet. The question of al-Battāh comprises of three different issues concerning zakāt/obligatory alms. The first is whether it is permissible to render the alms through monetary value. The second is if bread could be given as the alms in case of advantage. The third one is whether it is appropriate to give alms in kind or value considering the need of the poor. Mohammad Ᾱbid, while handling these three issues, he based on views of Hanafi sect and the reliable sources in the Hanafi sect. In this respect, he referred in his epistle to Badāi‘ al sanāi‘ of Kāsānī (d. 587/1191), al Mukhtār of al Mawsīlī (d. 683/1284), and al Bahr al rāiq of Ibn Nujaim (d. 970/1563).
