Abstract
This paper aims to describe the main functions of the moderator as an addressee-repeater in the English educational webinars. Modern digital technologies have led to the emergence of the virtual pedagogical discourse and its specific genre – English educational webinar, the main participants of which are the addresser, the mass addressee and the moderator, whose communicative task is to receive a message and convey it to the addressee. Depending on the stage of the webinar, the moderator performs various functions: at the pre–webinar stage, contact establishing and regulating; at the stage of introduction – regulating, contact – establishing and presentation functions; at the main “body” part – controlling, clarifying, fixing functions; at the stage of conclusions and q&a, – interactive function. The moderator uses certain communicative strategies (establishing virtual communication, informative, recommendations) that promote effective interaction between the participants in the field of teaching English.
