Abstract
Verbalization of native land notions and patriotism in Russian ethnical thought and Russian common consciousness is considered, it is shown that these notions are sufficiently confused and hardly can be formulated in rational terms. Native land for the Russian consciousness bearers is personified in the image of beloved woman; love that separates native land from simply land is passionate and possesses hypertrophied caritative moment: readiness to forgive. The division of the “Great native land” into civil native land, identified with the state, and ethnical native land, identified with people and its culture, is in accordance with amorphous Russian moral consciousness
