MODELS OF ANTHROPOCENTRIC METAPHORS FORMED BY NOUNS OF WORK ACTIVITIES IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH (LEXICOGRAPHY-BASED ANALYSIS)

Abstract
The article deals with one of the components of social metaphorical macro system – metaphor of work activities. The analysis is lexicography-based, the object of the research are metaphorical meaning of nouns naming people by their work activities in Russian and English. The lexicographic analysis shows that most frequently such metaphors are targeted at “Human” semantic sphere. The study of anthropocentric metaphors of work activities allows to find out regular metaphorical models, typical of Russian and English. Such models are sometimes nationally specific, what is explained by cultural differences between the two nations. But most of the models are similar, which helps to draw a conclusion about the universal, panhuman character of some semantic processes
