THE MAIN TENDENCIES AND PROBLEMS OF INTENDING FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Abstract
The article deals with issues of professional development regarding training of teachers of foreign languages when defining its content, approaches, methods and principals. The author expresses his point of view on the reasons and consequences of the training falling behind, analyzes linguistic, pedagogical, methodological and sociocultural research results, suggesting ways to overcome the problems in question. The article reveals some shortcomings in contemporary system of teacher training and emphasizes the need to strengthen its axiological constituent, teachers' personality development and the role of culture-based learning as the main content of the humanitarian education.
According to the recent scientific research intending foreign language teachers experience lack of skills in defining goals and objectives not only in the classroom but also in their professional development overall. Their knowledge remains in the theoretical stage of existence and is hardly ever applied in practice. Many students struggle with determining objectives for a lesson and escape by working merely with language aspects focusing on teaching only grammar, phonetics and vocabulary. They ignore sociocultural aspect of teaching or teach it separately from the main agenda which makes it look inappropriate and out of place. It is quite a common picture to see a language rule as a topic of the whole lesson which is inacceptable in the framework of cultural approach to education and communicative method in teaching foreign languages. The author emphasizes the importance of the teachers' professional development in the framework of cultural paradigm and focus on moral values. The author considers the roots and consequences of the issues in question and suggests some ways in which the efficiency of teachers' training can be enhanced. Having named cultural approach, reflection, individualization and axiological aspect of as the main principles of teaching foreign languages, there has been carried out an experiment which showed the efficiency of the stated above content and principles of future foreign language teacher training.
