Abstract
Mahashweta Devi is the name of a relentless journey, an endless struggle. Her writings refuse to be mere patchwork of fiction caged within the domain of imagination as they break away to chronicle, in all the obduracy, the stark reality ?man in his milieu. They centre upon the aborigines, their existential crisis, their lives lived in deprivation of even the basic amenities?food, clothing and shelter. Mahashweta Devi makes use of satire and sarcasm and through these along with the projection of turbulent moments of conflict of interests and emotions; she is able to rip off the mask to lay bare the ugly intention lurking underneath. This article is an in-depth analysis of some of her works: ‘Bhat’, ‘Pindodan’, ‘Bichon’, and ‘Sangrokkhon’.
