Abstract
Till date, LT code is the most appropriate error correction code notable for its excellent performance, and it has been widely adopted within modern communication systems. This paper seeks to present the LT code as one of the principal error-correcting codes that can be applied with standard modulation schemes across mobile communication systems. The LT code's performance is tested in this work via three types of modulation, specifically QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM. The simulation for LT code systems is performed using MATLAB and is accompanied by a straightforward practical implementation of the LT code system using a microcontroller. The employment of a microcontroller in LT code implementation enables its use in practical communication applications that require low-cost error-correction capabilities. In addition, this LT code implementation with FPGA technology provides high speed data processing and so will be more suitable for those communication applications that require larger sizes of LT code.
