Cotton production and processing in Azerbaijan

Abstract
The article analyzes and evaluates the history of cotton cultivation and processing in Azerbaijan, the current situation, gives information and recommendations on development prospects. At the same time, the directions of development of cotton growing and cotton processing are shown, it is justified that agricultural products are one of the activities with the greatest economic effect in terms of profitability. The need to raise cotton and cotton processing plants in the country, as well as the knitting industry to the previous level as one of the sectors alternative to the oil sector in terms of profitability, was emphasized. In order to increase competitiveness and increase efficiency in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan, the development of cotton production and, in parallel, the cotton industry was identified as a priority area. It has been argued that clusters can be more effective in the development of the cotton and knitting industries, and some specific proposals have been made.
