Correction of coping behavior from the point of view of “situation” concept in psychology

Abstract

The article considers different approaches to understanding of the “situation” concept from a psychological point of view. The relationship between environment and situation as well as various approaches to understanding of the personality trough its involvement in the situation are analyzed. The role of coping behavior in the development of psychological situations is reviewed. Coping behavior and related processes that influence the choice of coping strategies are considered. The features of formation of behavioral coping algorithm of the personality in terms of difficult life situations are revealed. Basic criteria for the classification of person's coping behavior are highlighted. Basic strategies of coping behavior and the impact of the personality development level to the responds and reactions in difficult situations are reviewed. Studies of constructive person's behavior in difficult situations are analyzed. The notion of "emotional competence" is reviewed. The connection between emotional competence and the ability to relate human priority response style with one's own needs is predicted. The components of psychological training to master the coping skills as a way of creating a positive perception of reality through the comprehension of one's life world causality. The training tools that can improve the repertoire of person's coping behavior are proposed.
