Abstract
This study is concerned with the presentation of Ibn Taimia's opinions about translation, in general, and the translation of the Holy Quran, in particular. Ibn Taimia's opinions are analyzed in the light of contemporary translation studies in order to assess the extent to which they may be considered as theoretical contributions. The final aim is to awaken a debate about the contributions of Islam Scholars in theorizing for translation. The study confirms that more research is needed in order to unveil the presence of translation in ancient Arabic text books, which could enrich our knowledge about translation studies.
