Abstract
The features of organizing the educational activities of foreign language students in quarantine conditions in Ukraine were considered. The author came to the conclusion that distance learning can be effective only under the following conditions: careful planning and design of the educational process based on the reasonable use of digital tools (not all existing ones, but a limited number) that provide support for the main types of pedagogical activities of teachers and students; the availability of prepared high-quality materials and tasks in electronic format, which will be available to students at any time and from any place of stay; a planned clear sequence of their study and implementation, which provides for the use of innovative pedagogical technologies of training; a high level of digital competence of all participants in the educational process-heads of higher educational institutions, teachers, students. Without meeting these conditions, it is not distance learning that takes place, but the transfer of elements of full-time classes to an online environment, which, as practice has shown, does not lead to high-quality educational results.
