Abstract
Current trends in Ukrainian education provide for clear requirements for school graduates, who must have not only a set of knowledge, skills and abilities, but also the necessary competencies that will ensure the effective application of experience and skillful service in everyday life. It is important that the set of competencies contributes to the successful self-realization of the individual. Accordingly, it is natural for students to form the key competencies needed by each student to socialize in society. This idea is pervasive in a number of current regulations, in which the following competencies occupy a prominent place: fluency in the state language; ability to communicate in foreign languages; mathematical, information and communication, environmental, civil; innovation, etc. In this progress, educational activities have a positive effect on the development of intellectual and creative abilities, improving knowledge, achieving expected results, forming a spiritual, moral, cultural, scientific worldview, which motivates the values, views of the learner that meet the demands of society. The purpose of the article is to clarify the category «mathematical competence» to determine its role in learning, to interpret the concept of «mathematical competence of students in the process of learning the Ukrainian language». The formation of mathematical competence is important in connection with the introduction of mathematical methods in other sciences, fields of knowledge and areas of human activity. In the scientific literature there is a pluralism of opinions on the definition of the essence of mathematical competence. Researchers consider the specified competence as ability, property, quality of the person which carry to mathematical education. The lack of scientific works devoted to the introduction of mathematical competence in the teaching of the Ukrainian language indicates the limited consideration of such an issue in linguodidactics. This complicates the substantiation of the content of determining the mathematical competence of students in the process of learning the Ukrainian language as a basic concept. Taking the analysis of a number of works into account, the definition of the concept «mathematical competence of students in the process of learning the Ukrainian language» is theoretically motivated. Further scientific research on the outlined issues will be aimed at identifying the structural components of the formation of mathematical competence of applicants in the process of learning the Ukrainian language.
