PERCEPTION TOWARDS RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH CONSUMPTION OF FAST FOOD: A STUDY OF COLLEGE STUDENTS IN INDIA

Abstract
Healthy eating not only makes us agile, but nourishes our physical and mental health too. Increasing urbanization and globalization has led to increased inclination towards consumption of fast food especially among youngsters. This study aims at revealing the awareness of youth against the risk factors associated with munching of fast food. The study is descriptive in nature based upon primary. The students from different course background were asked questions related to demographics, their perceptions of eating fast food and their awareness on risk factors associated with fast food. 5-point Likert –type scale ranging from 1-Strongly disagree to 5 –Strongly agree was used. Descriptive analysis using SPSS version 21 is conducted to fulfil the objective of the study. The study reveals that even though the respondents are quite aware about the various hazardous elements attached to the intake of fast food still they opt for them. It can be culminated from the study that awareness of the respondents does not get align with their fast-food intake. Further it is recommended that parents and educational institutions can play a vital role in building the eating habits of students.
