Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of early warning flood monitoring system in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is most affected due to extreme climatic conditions and its critical ecosystem and there is an increase in human settlements alongside perennial streams. Disaster risk management therefore play an important role whose one of the part is Early Warning System. Presented work contains the evaluation of early warning that is been given at an area before the arrival of flood. The main aspect of the project is to get a detail data of how the information is being passed in hilly region of Uttarakhand before the arrival of flood. This project also shows the awareness among people about the warning given to them at time of excess precipitation before the arrival of flood. This awareness has been checked among different age group and therefore is very handy in this project. The following article is the representation of our survey done at the hilly region of Uttarakhand.
