Abstract
One of the significant events that the Ottoman society experienced during the 19th century was the missionary activities to which it was exposed. As a result of these activities, the classical Ottoman social structure and order was disturbed. While the main churches were divided, religious communities were dismembered and new churches were established. Ottoman Armenian community formed an important group among the target communities of the missionaries. As a result of the activities of the Catholic and Protestant missionaries, the Gregorian Armenians were divided and separate Armenian Catholic and Protestant communities and churches were formed. Protestant missionary activities towards Armenian community, the first group forming the Ottoman Protestant community, the first Protestant church and its recognition by the Ottoman State.
