Abstract
Nepal is currently a developing democracy. With the election of the Constituent Assembly, Nepal has taken another step toward peace and democracy. It has declared the country a federal republic and abolished the monarchy. Nepal is both geographically and culturally close to India. India and Nepal have always had friendly relations. To maintain these relations, the two countries have signed a number of important treaties, as well as visits by diplomats from both countries on a regular basis. India has extended economic cooperation on a number of occasions to ensure that Nepal's progress and development work is completed on time. India occasionally expresses political and emotional concerns about Nepal's nature. The positive and negative impact of the political situation on India-Nepal relations reflects the changing times. There is a greater potential for cordial relations between the two countries as a result of global changes and India's policies toward its neighbouring countries. The Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1950 is a solid foundation for the two countries' special relations. For centuries, the two countries have maintained strong ties, historically, culturally, socially, economically, religiously, geographically, and linguistically. However, there are some issues that have caused tension in India-Nepal relations from time to time. Because of its strategic geographical location, Nepal plays a critical role for India. India and Nepal share a 1751-kilometer border line. The fact that it is an open border is unique. It is possible to travel to and from each other's countries without interruption.
