Training of a successful person: the experience of Volodymyr Dahl east Ukrainian national university

Abstract

The article examines the problem of training a successful person in Ukrainian institutions of higher education. Realizing the importance of quality higher education, the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University (VDEUNU) created the Center for the Development of Success and Public Responsibility. The article provides an overview of the work of the institution as a whole and characterizes the directions of the Center's activities. The peculiarity of VDEUNU is that it has been displaced for the second time and, despite the difficult conditions, continues to function as the leader of higher education in Luhansk region. The purpose of creating the Center is to provide psychological and pedagogical support to students of the desplaced higher education institution, to conduct researches on identifying learning difficulties, to provide assistance in adaptation and organization of the learning process, with a special focus on helping students who enrolled VDEUNU within the program of the educational center "Donbas-Ukraine" from the temporarily occupied territories. The article describes the constituent provisions of the Center's work, defines the purpose and relevance of its work. A promising direction of Center`s work is the creation of a united research platform for the joint work of institutions of higher education in the Luhansk region to develop a common understanding of student success. An example of the practical implementation of the scientific achievements of educators was the VDEUNU students survey. 1191 respondents took part in this research, whose answers to topical questions about understanding the importance of higher education, motivations and learning problems were very important. The purpose of the survey was to obtain objective information about the profile of first-year students, the organization of the admissions campaign, the availability of educational services at the University, the identification of communication problems, etc. The obtained results became the basis for the development of the University's strategy for training a successful person, taking into account new trends in the modernization of higher education
