Abstract

The article reveals the functioning of the psycho-emotional system in people exposed to the viral disease COVID-19. An analysis of scientific sources regarding the symptoms of COVID-19 and its clinical features was carried out. The article presents a theoretical generalization of the results and materials related to research on the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the psycho-emotional state of people in different countries of the world and the impact of the pandemic and the observance of quarantine on a person's personality. Achieving this goal required specification of the essence and content of atypical pneumonia disease. It was determined that due to the peculiarity of the genetic material of the specified virus, during the disease there is an effect on the human nervous system, accordingly, due to such an effect of the disease on the nervous system, a person's psychological state changes, which is manifested in a change in behavior, preferences, habits and lifestyle. In 2022, there is enough evidence that COVID-19 was considered a human emergency, the virus continues to be life-threatening, and can cause post-traumatic stress disorder. Because the events related to this disease were unexpected, people felt panic, tension and uncertainty about their future, and uncertainty is one of the factors that provoke distress and lead to psychological PTSD. As a result of the systematization of the theoretical material, the possible prerequisites for the occurrence of residual symptoms with psychological and physiological characteristics were established, the most common groups of residual symptoms were established, and the factors and causes of the occurrence of a lingering syndrome in people after recovery from COVID-19 were clarified. The need for research is due to the fact that COVID-19 continues to exist almost all over the world. It is not fully researched, and accordingly requires the systematization of existing research and additional study of the impact of the "atypical" virus on the psyche of people
