Abstract

Simultaneous interpreting (SI) in live satellite is a new form of media interpreting. It has been imposed by the requirement of the satellite media's work. The Interpreter conveys the meaning of the original speech to the target recipient, within contexts that are completely different from conference interpreting ones. In this regard, this paper deals with the problematic of the effect of the satellite broadcasts context on TV interpreting evaluation norms. This type of simultaneous interpreting is considered the most difficult and complex because interpreting quality is affected by external factors, which should be taken into account when transferring the text to the target language. The study's results showed that TV interpreter must adapt his/her translation to the satellite broadcast's norms. And such restrictions are not imposed on conference interpreters. So, those norms should be taken in consideration in the evaluation of the TV interpreting, which, in turn, is affected by the context of satellite broadcasts, where the transfer of the form prevails over the content.
