Abstract

All branches of sociology and psychology agree that criminal behavior is a nuisance to society and that it should be punished when it occurs. Crime has been an integral part of human society since humans first began to organize themselves into communities. The global crime rate has been rising steadily in recent years. Most crimes are reported to the police the same day or the day after they occur, and several crime reports are submitted by various sources. The police have found these reports to be useful in their inquiry. However, because of the abundance of reports, it is now a time-consuming and laborious effort to parse out the specifics of the potentially relevant information included on those reports, which hampers in-depth investigations of crimes.
