Abstract
We are able to estimate the LiDAR ratio (LR) and calculate the height of the boundary layer (BL) by comparing satellite retrievals with data on the aerosol optical depth (AOD) gathered from the ground. This is done in conjunction with a study of the movement of the aerosols over Palampur. We carry out a quantitative analysis of the AOD retrievals using the most recent level-2 data collections from MODIS aboard the CALIPSO, all over the Manora peak. The only feature that remains the same from May to August across all altitude bands is the presence of dust aerosols with a PDR value that is more than 0.1 in B1 and B2.
