Abstract
Women's labour force participation in India is among the lowest in the world. As a result, fewer women than in certain top-performing nations work in ENR or any other field. When broken down by occupation, women are underrepresented in the engineering, construction, installation, and maintenance fields. All of them make up the backbone of an organization's workforce in the ENR sector, which is why employment in this field is so scarce. Women also make up a disproportionately large percentage of the workforce in other fields, including office administration, arts, design, sports, and journalism. The energy and resources industry has among of the lowest rates of female involvement. Women make up just 19% of ENR organisations worldwide, much below the 30% global norm. In 2018, KPMG surveyed ENR groups in the Indian public sector and found that female representation was generally low at all levels. Women make up less than 10% of the workforce in most ENR companies, and far fewer than that hold executive positions. Women's skill is still one of the most underutilised organisational resources worldwide, and they make up a disproportionately small percentage of most industries. Research shows that women earn less than males for equivalent labour.
