RESULTS OF PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIMENT ON DEVELOPMENT OF CRIMINAL-EXECUTIVE SERVICE OF LEADERSHIP COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN FUTURE SPECIALISTS

Abstract

Introduction. The standards and quality of training of future penitentiary service professionals do not currently ensure the proper development of their leadership potential. The necessary scientific and methodological support for developing cadets' leadership competence in higher education institutions with specific learning conditions is also insufficient. These circumstances necessitate a thorough study of pedagogical ways and means of building this professionally important characteristic in future officers of the criminal executive service. Purpose. Leadership in penal institutions is an integral factor in the effectiveness of their activities. The authors found that developing their ability to solve complex tasks and practical problems of criminal executive activity requires close attention. This issue of leadership competencies development requires a more thorough study of the current issue through in-depth scientific research. Methods. The features of using situational teaching methods (situational method, method of specific situations, case method) for the acquisition of skills by cadets to solve problems of professional activity independently are revealed. Internal communication methods and the potential of discussion learning technologies were effectively applied. Results. The article describes the course of a pedagogical experiment on the development of leadership competence in future specialists of the criminal executive service in the process of professional training. The main pedagogical measures to deepen and broaden cadets' understanding of leadership behavior by selecting the content of social and humanitarian disciplines such as «History of Ukraine,» «Ukrainian language (for professional purposes),» «Penitentiary psychology,» «Penitentiary pedagogy» and the introduction of an additional peculiar online course «Leadership of a criminal executive service officer» are highlighted in detail. The article reveals the peculiarities of using situational teaching methods (situational method, case method, case method) for cadets to acquire skills and abilities to solve problems of professional activity independently. Of great importance was the use of dialogic and discussion technologies for developing communicative leadership skills, as well as the use of research resources to unlock the leadership potential of future officers of the penal service. An equally valuable and final pedagogical tool for developing cadets' leadership competence was the educational and research tasks, which helped organize the learning process not through passive learning but through the active search of the cadets themselves. Originality. The results of the experimental work showed that after the shaping stage of the experiment, the cadets of the experimental groups have mostly high and sufficient levels of leadership competence. Based on the results of the formative experiments, methodological recommendations for the formation of leadership competence in future officers of the criminal executive service in the course of professional training have been developed. The scientific novelty of the research is to study the problem of forming the leadership competence of future officers of the criminal executive service in the process of professional training. Conclusion. The article describes the course of a pedagogical experiment on the building of leadership competence in future specialists of the criminal executive service in the process of professional training. The author describes key pedagogical activities aimed at deepening and broadening cadets' understanding of leadership behavior.
