THE CONCEPT OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS

Introduction. The relevance of the problem stated in the article is determined by the fact that in modern conditions, an important task of institutions of professional preliminary higher education is the formation of leadership qualities in students. The formation of students leadership qualities who study in the speciality «Management of transportation processes» is especially relevant, since this speciality involves several responsibilities in the organization and management of transport, coordination of all branches and divisions of various types of transport in the organization of the transportation process. Future specialists must be specialists of a broad profile and carry out independent engineering, research, organizational and management activities in the field of various types of transport, therefore leadership qualities are necessary for such activities. Purpose. The purpose of the article is the theoretical substantiation of the concept of leadership development of students' qualities of pre-higher education institutions speciality «Management of transportation processes». Methods. The basis of the methodological approach in this study is a qualitative combination of theoretical research methods, in particular, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, generalization and abstraction were used to determine theoretical approaches to explaining the concept of leadership qualities of students, and the comparative-historical, problem-comparative and structural method was used to characterize and analysis of the features of the process of formation of leadership qualities in the process of education and upbringing of students studying in the speciality «Management of transportation processes». Results. The main results that were obtained within the framework of this scientific research should be considered the justification of the definition of the concept of leadership qualities of students and the concept of their formation in the process of educational and educational activities of students. Originality. The scientific originality of the obtained results is the analysis of the modern problem of the formation of students' leadership qualities and the ways of development of students' leadership qualities studying the speciality «Management of transportation processes». Conclusion. The results of this scientific research, as well as the conclusions formulated on their basis, are of practical value for teachers of institutions of vocational pre-higher education, curators, as well as other pedagogical workers, whose duties include training and education of future transport technology specialists. This study does not cover all aspects of the problem of developing leadership skills in students of professional higher education institutions. Prospects for further research in this area include determining the level of leadership skills of students of higher education institutions majoring in «Transportation Management».
