Abstract

Introduction. The article deals with developing the accentological competence of future Ukrainian Language and Literature teachers based on M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar (1619). The authors started the analytical linguistic and didactic consideration of historical linguistic works by the conclusions of linguists that the first scientific and theoretical foundations of Ukrainian accentology were developed and described by M. Smotrytskyi in his Grammar published in 1619 in Eure. The author found that significant historical material on accentology, presented in ancient times, is not fully reflected in Ukrainian language textbooks for general secondary education and higher pedagogical educational institutions. Purpose. The article aims to substantiate the role and significance of M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar (1619) as a precedent and polycoded text in the formation of accentuation competence of future teachers of the Ukrainianlanguage and literature based on the principle of historicism and development; as a precedent and polycoded text in the formation of accentological competence of future teachers of Ukrainian language and literature; to develop methodological foundations for processing the Grammar; to clarify the content of the concept of Linguodidactic studies; to determine the approaches, methods, techniques, means, strategies, tactics of effective functioning of Linguodidactic Studies as the basis for the methodology of mastering by future teachers of Ukrainian literature the accentological system of the Ukrainian language, the genesis of the essence of which is highlighted in M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar. Methods. The following methods were used: theoretical – to analyse linguistic and linguodidactic sources, to substantiate the views of researchers on the role and significance of M. Smotrytskyi's historical Grammar in the development of accentological competence of future teachers of Ukrainian literature; empirical – to study the opinion, level of knowledge, skills and abilities of future teachers of Ukrainian literature; observation of language material – to develop a methodological basis for its processing. Results. The article substantiates that M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar (1619) is a precedent-setting and polycoded text that combines the features of a scientific work, a methodological guide for teachers and a textbook for students and pupils. The author has found that the Grammar traces the authenticity of the Ukrainian accentological system, the mastery of which requires the development of an experimental methodology. Based on the diagnostic study, the Linguistic and Country Studies is the foundation of the methods, the essence of which is outlined at the level of a linguistic and didactic term, form and technology of teaching. The methodological tools for the Linguistic and Country Studies are based on the text-centred approach, the principle of science and consciousness, the method of observation of language material, the method of dialogue communication with grammatical memory and decoding of linguistic and extra-linguistic elements. The teaching tool is the precedent text of the Grammar, and the learning outcome is the secondary creolised educational text «Fundamentals of Ukrainian accentology in the M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar (1619)». The main strategies and tactics for working with the text are outlined. Originality. For the first time, the author attempts to substantiate the role and significance of M. Smotrytskyi's Grammar (1619) as a precedent and polycode text in designing methodological principles of forming accentological competence of future teachers of Ukrainian literature based on the identified experimental material. Conclusion. Further methodological analysis in Linguodidactic Studies is required for the functions of sound means of language in connection with the formation of significant linguistic units, highlighted in Ukrainian grammars of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.
