COMPETENCE MODEL OF THE TEXTBOOK OF UKRAINIAN LITERATURE FOR THE 6TH GRADE OF THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL

Abstract

Introduction. The article updates the problem of implementing the competence approach in school literary education. Therefore, the problem of updating the content of school literary education and preparing its innovative educational and methodical support in the context of the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education (2020) is becoming very urgent. Purpose. The article aims to reveal the didactic and methodological potential of the textbook «Ukrainian Literature. 6th grade» (authors – T. Yatsenko, V. Pakharenko, O. Slyzhuk) on the formation of subject reading and key competencies of students. Methods. The following methods were used: analysis and synthesis of pedagogical, methodical sources, educational programs, and regulatory documents in the field of school literary education; observation of the educational process; pedagogical experiment. Results. Competency priorities of school literary education are outlined in the current model curriculum on Ukrainian Literature for 5-6 grades of general secondary education institutions, prepared by the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Its didactic-methodical potential provides the possibility of forming subject reading competence as an integrated result of educational achievements of students- readers related to the reading activity; the ability to meaningfully acquire subject knowledge and skills provided for by a specific program study topic and the school literature course in general; a system of value-worldview and aesthetic orientations formed on the material of high artistic works; the ability of students-readers to purposefully apply subject knowledge, skills and methods of activity in new educational and life situations.Originality. The competence focus of the current model curriculum on Ukrainian Literature for 5–6 grades is defined (under the scientific editorship by T. Yatsenko); essential signs of the formation of subject reading competence for students-readers of this age group are specified; the didactic-methodical potential of the content and structure of the current textbook of Ukrainian Literature for the 6th grade of the author's team of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine regarding the formation of subject reading and key competencies of students is presented. Conclusion. Competency teaching of Ukrainian Literature is implemented in the innovative model of the current textbook «Ukrainian Literature» for the 6th grade of general secondary education institutions (authors – T. Yatsenko, V. Pakharenko, O. Slyzhuk). His competence potential is revealed in the content and structure, in the process of analytical and synthetic work on the text of artistic works, processing information about writers, studying theoretical and literary concepts, performing competence-oriented questions and tasks of a reproductive, semi-research and creative nature, preparing research reading projects, which optimally contributes to the consistent formation of the subject reading and key competencies of students.
