Abstract
In the pathogenesis of vitiligo, pro-inflammatory cytokines have been linked to insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and atherosclerosis; which are associated with cardiovascular diseases (CD). Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is welldescribed in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune disorders. Also, MIF has been involved in the development of atherosclerosis and has emerged as a cardiovascular risk (CR) factor.
