Abstract

Introduction. The article deals with the problem of training a future teacher to teach quantities in the primary course of mathematics. The reform of modern primary education poses special challenges to higher education institutions, which are determined by society's need for qualified specialists capable of solving complex problems of pupils' teaching and educating. This necessitates modern approaches to the training of prospective primary school teachers. Only a teacher with a high level of intelligence and creative abilities is able to form the personality of primary school pupil, taking into account the requirements of modernity. Purpose. The main aim of our research is to consider the theoretical and methodological aspects of training future teachers to study concepts of magnitude in the system of primary mathematics education. Methods. Critical analysis of literature, comparison, generalization of practical studies, systematization, generalization. Results. The basis of this component is to know basic quantities (length, mass, capacity, time) and understand the process of their measurement; to know the relationship between measurement units of a certain quantity, the ability to measure quantities and record the results; the skills in performing arithmetic operations with quantities; to know the groups of interrelated quantities (price, quantity, cost, etc.), understanding of their relationship and the ability to find one of the quantities by the other two; to know geometric quantities (perimeterand area) and the ability to measure and find them using the appropriate rules and formulas. The article analyses methodological recommendations for the formation of students' mathematical competence at the level of primary education at the end of primary school, in accordance with the requirements of educational curriculum. Originality. In the process of conducting lectures, practical and laboratory classes on mathematics teaching methods, it is necessary to draw the attention of intending teachers that they should know the main methods of forming concepts during the study of the topic «Methodology of teaching quantities in the primary course of mathematics». Intending teachers should develop the content of each lesson in detail during planning the specified topic teaching. Conclusion. One of the important tasks of intending teachers in the process of studying the measuring component of mathematical competence is the formation of primary school students' ability to perform all mathematical operations in general, the ability to combine several types of activities, to build a certain sequence when solving educational, practical and cognitive tasks.
