Abstract
The dubbing of cartoons may be subject to domestication or foreignization depending on the objectives intended and the general orientation of the broadcasting channel. This study aims to shed light on the Arabic dubbing of foreign cartoons in order to understand the impact of foreignization on young Algerian children's understanding and reception of cartoons broadcast on Cartoon Network, and to determine the levels at which foreignization is used. The research concluded that foreignization could affect children's understanding - and therefore reception - of cartoons, particularly as it operates at several levels.
