Abstract

This research delves into the influence of social media on the emergence of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in teenagers. By administering a survey among 113 teenagers, it explores the correlation between social media engagement and body dissatisfaction. The findings underscore a significant linkage between social media-induced beauty standards and body dissatisfaction, especially among individuals aged 13-15. Social media was highlighted as a more potent factor in developing BDD symptoms compared to negative evaluations from peers or family.
