Abstract

Ukraine has a significant potential of elements of intangible cultural heritage of various nature, with varying degrees of involvement and rationality of use in tourist and recreational activities, which requires research and generalization. In Ukraine, the term «Intangible cultural heritage» has entered into circulation and is defined in accordance with the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, adopted on October 17, 2003 in Paris. According to the Conven‑ tion, the term «intangible cultural heritage» means — customs, forms of display and expression, knowledge and skills, as well as related tools, objects, artifacts and cultural spaces that are recognized by communities, groups and in some cases by individuals as part of their cultural heritage. This one intangible cultural heritage that is passed down from generation to generation. The analysis of the elements of the intangible cultural heritage in Ukraine showed the following results: uneven inclusion of elements in the list. Over the years of observation, the largest number of elements was already introduced during military events; Uneven geographical distribution of intangible cultural heritage elements across regions of Ukraine; of the 80 elements currently con‑ tained in the national prerelic, 5 have international status and are included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. The study of the structure of the elements according to their belonging to the corresponding field of intangible heritage showed that elements belonging to the fields of «Customs, rites, celebrations» and «Traditional crafts» make up almost equal shares. The following two fields «Oral traditions and forms of expression» and «Performance art» have significantly smaller values, the fields «knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe» and «Practice for the protection of natural resources» are distinguished by the smallest values. More than half of the elements are included in the List according to two (26 elements) and three criteria (19 elements). A smaller part one at a time (35 elements) and mostly this branch is represented by traditional crafts. On the basis of the analysis, the authors offer a number of recommendations regarding the activation of the involvement of elements of intangible cultural heritage for the development of tourism and recreation.
