SALARY IN THE HUMAN CAPITAL REPRODUCTION SYSTEM OF THE UNIVERSITY

The article is devoted to the challenges of personnel management of higher educational institutions. The main focus is on the problems of payment system for the employers in universities in Ukraine. Historically, the level of wages in the education in Ukraine has been quite low since Soviet times. The teacher's work was respected, but not well paid. The low level of wages was present both in secondary school and in higher education. As evidenced by the analysis carried out in the article, this practice persists to this day. The essence of wages, its interpretation from the point of view of various economic approaches is considered. The main functions of wages are specified. The knowledge intensity of GDP in Ukraine was analyzed. The indicator of knowledge intensity of GDP is compared with the developed countries of the world. It is concluded that the level of this indicator is insufficient. It is the reason why talented young specialists refuse to work in the field of education quite often. The main problems and challenges caused by the current method and level of salary formation of scientific and pedagogical workers of higher educational institutions are determined. It was concluded that in Ukraine, wages in the field of education do not fulfill their main functions. Scientific achievements and achievements are not sufficiently rewarded. The conclusion that the problem consist of method and structure of formation of wage in education is made. The main emphasis is on the method of formation of wages in the field of higher education and the level of wages in Ukraine. The tariff coefficients and the tariff grid, which will be in effect for teachers of higher education in Ukraine in 2023, have been analyzed.
