Abstract
Introduction. The activation of innovative activities and the transition to the introduction of advanced technologies is a mandatory condition for the integration of Ukraine into the European Community and its acquisition of the status of an equal and competitive partner on the market. Taking this into account, investment and innovation development has long been the main vector of the functioning of the domestic economy. In the period before the start of the pandemic, the state and the Ukrainian economy had already reached certain indicators of innovative development. Investments grew steadily every year. However, the situation changed significantly after the start of the corona virus pandemic, and reached a critical point after the start of a full-scale invasion. Therefore, the need to assess the state of investment and innovation development in order to determine current trends in this area and determine further steps to resolve the situation becomes very relevant. Purpose. The purpose of the study is to assess the current state of investment and innovation development of the Ukrainian economy, determine the correlation between the volume of GDP in actual prices and the volume of capital investments, as well as establish threats and obstacles to the successful functioning of the investment and innovation sphere in the conditions of modern challenges. Materials and methods. Materials for research were: 1) works of domestic and foreign scientists; 2) reports of international organizations; 3) static data of the State Statistics Service. In the process of conducting the research, the following scientific methods were used: theoretical generalization (to present the meaning of investments and innovations, their interrelationships); analysis, synthesis and correlation (research of the volumes of capital and direct foreign investments, establishing the mutual influence between the volumes of capital investments and GDP in actual prices, determining the dynamics of changes in the Global Innovation Index for 2020–2023); logical generalization of results (formulation of conclusions). Results. The scientific article defines the importance of innovations for the economic development of states and strengthening their positions in the international arena. The relationship between investments and innovations is specified. The volume of capital investments in the economy of Ukraine in 2018–2022 was analyzed. The correlation between the volume of capital investments and the volume of GDP in actual prices was calculated. The dynamics of changes in the volume of direct foreign investments in 2018–2023 were studied. Obstacles and challenges to the development of investment activity in Ukraine are systematized. The dynamics of changes in the Global Innovation Index in 2020–2023 were analyzed in general and in terms of its components. Trends in changes in the share of industrial enterprises that implemented innovations in the total number of enterprises, as well as changes in the share of research and development costs in GDP in 2015–2023, were determined. Measures taken by the government to improve innovative activity in Ukraine are identified. Discussion. In further scientific research, it is proposed to focus attention on the use of the possibilities of artificial intelligence for the development of all branches of the domestic economy, through the prism of determining the directions of its application for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
