Abstract
İstanbul is the most migration-receiving and the most densely populated mega city of Turkey. Recently, besides the general view of the city the differention among the settlements has gradually increased. Serious differentiations have been observed in the morphologic, panoramic, demographic, topographic, etc structure of the city. Therefore, historical districts, places, the residence types has had a great transformation. How and for what reasons can such a big change, spatial differentation and heterogeneities in a historical city, within a shortish period? Is it a process that occurs spontaneously or is it a process
