Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of group training on choice theory concepts on increasing self-care activities and interactive self-efficacy in women with binge eating. In a clinical trial study, 40 women with binge eating were randomly selected from a nutrition clinic in Nowshahr in 2010 and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data obtained from the research were used using descriptive statistics (mean - standard deviation) and in the inferential statistics section (statistical test) multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). All statistical operations were analyzed using SPSS 22 software. The results of the Wilks Lambda test in the multivariate analysis of covariance show that there is a significant difference between the control and experimental groups in at least one of the variables related to self-care and self-efficacy of the subjects (F=8/421 and sig.<0.01). Group training intervention of choice theory is effective in increasing self-care and self-efficacy of women with binge eating disorder.
