Abstract
Karanjadhya Ghrita has been mentioned in Chakradutt and its wound healing properties have been described. In the present article, Karanjadhya Ghrita has been prepared using standardization procedure and its physico-chemical parameters have been studied. Karanjadhya Ghrita was prepared using the standardization procedure in the Pharmacy of Department of Rasa Shastra & Bhesaj Kalpana in National Institute of Ayurveda. The three samples of Karanjadhya Ghrita have been prepared and their physic-chemical properties have been measured and analyzed. The Karanjadhya Ghrita prepared has the specific gravity of 0.9092, refractive index of 1.4565, loss of drying of 0.301% w/w, total ash value of 0.0966% w/w, acid value of 0.775, ester value of 62.486, iodine value of 43.012, saponification value of 63.260, unsaponifiable matter 22.00% w/w and TLC value of 0.85. Additionally, spectrophotometry shows absorption at 419 nm of 0.148 and absorption at 231 nm of 0.772. These quality control parameters including TLC and spectrophotometry may be considered as tools for assisting various scientific organizations and manufacturers in developing standards for Karanjadhya Ghrita
