THE STUDY OF EFFICACY OF INGUDI PHALAMAJJA (FRUIT PULP OF Balanites aegyptiaca, Linn) IN THE MANAGEMENT OF CHLOASMA

Abstract
Beauty itself has a comprehensive meaning which includes good physical appearance, mental excellence and moral purity which is reflected upon the beautiful face. So everyone deserves and desires to have that external beauty by keeping the face lustrous and glorious. Brownish pigmentation on the face is called as "Chlosma", which is co-related to “Vyanga” in Ayurveda. This condition hampers the beauty in the beauty conscious age. Therefore it is the prime need to find out an excellent herbal remedy to get rid of this condition. Ingudi phalamajja (Balanites aegyptiaca,Linn) was selected for the present study for screening and reestablishing its specific effect in the management of Vyanga. So the present study was conducted on 60 patients of Chloasma. Study drug compared with well established hydroquinone 4% containing cream. The results of the present study are found to be very encouraging when analyzed statistically with students “t” test and found extremely significant (P<0.001) on day 21 & day 36 (i.e. on fifteen days follow up).Result at fifteenth day follow up suggests that there is relapse of Chloasma in control group and improvement in positive result in study group.
