Abstract
Sivas became a centre of attraction for American missionaries at the end of the 19th century. The American missionaries who aimed at non-Muslim Armenian population tried to convert these non-Muslim Armenians into Protestants and spread the principles of Christianity. the missionaries who started to work in Sivas in 1880 educated girls and boys in the region. The general aim of these American missionaries in education is to educate individuals who would work as teachers. To this end Sivas Teacher College was founded in 1912. The education life of this school was too short to the wars that were experienced in the world. This school was closed due to the outbreak of World War I and Armenian deportation. This article aims to give short information about the historical development of Sivas Teacher College upon investigation of the documents obtained from the American archives.
